1.

A freeware product called CAP is available for DigitalUNIX. The home page
is
http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/appletalk/cap.html. The current version is 6.0 and
there are several patches which can be installed easily with a patch
utility which is also available. Installation is fairly easy although it
appears complicated. If you decide to go this route and have any
questions
please contact me with any questions you may have.

2.
have a look at:
http://www.cs.mu.OZ.AU/appletalk/atalk.html

this compiled fine on our UNIX-Boxes (DU 4.0b)
3.
We are using the PACER Software from PACER INC. It is not bad.

4.
We use CAP. Check the newsgroup com.protocols.appletalk.

5.
You have the cap software for Digital Unix on
ftp://ftp.digital.com//pub/net/appletalk/cap

6.
However there is a bigger and better product called CAP. It's at
http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/appletalk/cap.html if your interested. But be
warned. CAP is *not* and out-of-box software package. It's version is
6.0
and there are 198 patches to be applied! 199 patches if you also want
"AppleTalk over IP" support for those that have MacOS 8 or better.

I have tested AppleTalk over IP and it is very fast and efficient using
the
network. I have also tested it over PPP and it still performed better
than
I had ever expected.

7.
The CAP ("Columbia AppleTalk Package") builds easily and runs well on
Digital
Unix. The only major issue is configuring and understanding it, you
will have a certain amount of reading ahead of you.
These days the official Web site is somewhere in Australia,
 at the University of Melbourne.
