Managers -

A quick question:

I've got a PWS 500au plugged into a dual-speed auto-sensing 10/100 ethernet
switch.
At the console I've set full-duplex fast-ethernet with

>>> set ewa0_mode fastfd

In /etc/rc.config I've got

 IFCONFIG_0="XXX.XX.X.XX netmask 255.255.255.0 speed 200"

And on the switch I've turned off auto-negotiation and selected the port
to be 100Mbps full-duplex.

When I boot the machine it logs

 Nov 1 16:52:34 zuaxp0 vmunix: tu0: DECchip 21143: Revision: 3.0
 Nov 1 16:52:34 zuaxp0 vmunix: tu0: auto negotiation capable device
 Nov 1 16:52:34 zuaxp0 vmunix: tu0 at pci0 slot 3
 Nov 1 16:52:34 zuaxp0 vmunix: tu0: DEC TULIP (10/100) Ethernet Interface, hardware address: 00-00-XX-XX-XX-XX
 Nov 1 16:52:34 zuaxp0 vmunix: tu0: auto negotiation off: selecting 100BaseTX (UTP) port: full duplex

But ifconfig reports
                                                          *******
 tu0: flags=c63<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,MULTICAST,SIMPLEX>
      inet XXX.XX.X.XX netmask ffffff00 broadcast XXX.XX.X.255 ipmtu 1500

So, does the 'SIMPLEX' from ifconfig mean that the interface is in simplex-
rather than duplex-mode ? And if it does how do I get it to run full-duplex ?

Thanks,

 john
