Hello Managers,
I'm currently working with the French CSC on a strange problem and perharps
one of you has already resolved it.
After having installed the duv40das00002-19980717.tar jumbo patch (as
required), I've installed BIND_V40D_BL10.tar which is a new version of
named (and libraries) to prevent attacks on named.
The problem many things are not working anymore after the installation. As
an example :
# ping nodename
ping: unknown host nodename
while
#nslookup
......
nodename
.....
Name: nodename.supelec.fr
Address: 160.228.xxx.yyy
#
So nslookup is working, nfs is working, smtp is working. All other things
with IP as telnet, rlogin, ping, NSR and so on are not working. We suppose
that some old file is somewhere to prevent the new version to work. Even in
debugging mode it's difficult to see where is the problem.
The French CSC has installed a computer with all the same components and
it's working for them.
Any idea where to look for something wrong ?
I don't want to go behind the CSC but if something has got the same problem
, it could be helpful.
