Final Summary on this topic:

In Carvalho's (Casey_at_YorkU.CA) opinion, the max block size for any kind of
unix flavor is 128K, whilst Peter (pchapin_at_twilight.vtc.vsc.edu) pointed out
a
distinction to be made between block size and transfer size whereas
modifying
the transfer size might be very useful.

Most important of all emails I got was by Dr. Thomas Blinn (DEC/COMPAQ) who
advised
not to perform critique on Digital by pointing out differences, rather than
sending requests
to add more flexibility in tunning such parameters in future releases of DU.
At this point,
I have to say that my intention, by all means, was not to perform critique
on Digital, but just
to comment on other vendors's approach in order to understand how DU is
dealing with this
issue.

Good point though Dr. Thomas. This is something most of us should follow as
a guideline,
in order to strengthen the already powerfull DU.
