SUMMARY: "du -k" not recursive anymore ....

Hello again,

Well: I should have checked more closely before posting. Mea culpa ;-)
But after 10+ hours of work that's not so easy anymore.

In any case: the problem was, as many of you guessed correctly, an
alias of

          du='du -sk'

Though this was rather unexpected for me because I was logged in as root
on this particular machine and root had /bin/ksh as the default shell
rather than /bin/sh which is what I usually have. I use to advocate
against changing the root account's shell and I did not expect that
someone did not follow my recommendations :-)
