Thanks to Pirie for the quick response.
I had done a "less inetd.conf", but I'm getting onto my machine via
two linked telnet sessions, and less currently seems to be having problems
with its concept of page/screen length. A quick vi session identified that
the line refered to was there. Uncomment, HUP inetd, and there it was.
