I sifted through some of the archives (The ornl.gov search engine seems
to be broken) but couldn't find the advice I was looking for...
It seems to appear that every year people that use our systems find new
ways to make the disk space dwindle. As an effort to keep up ith the
need, I want to convert all of the file systems to Advanced File systems.
I have AdvFS running now on our News Server, however, that was a ground
up installation.
I am wondering how AdvFS does at converting old File Systems to it's Own
format.
The main reason for this is that the root file systems on mos tof the
machines are getting pretty shallow, and I hav tried to delete all that I
can, and there is still not enough disk space (Entry in the FAQ
acknowledged, I still need a lot more). SO I am hoping that I can
convert all to AdvFS, add some more space to the root file domain, and
then upgrade. Along with converting all of the other user areas too.
Just looking for some advice, warnings, cautions, or suggestions. And to
help me make sure that this is the right choice.
