Dear Gurus,

Running DU 4.0B on a 2100 server.

I have some Apple Laserwriters 16-600 hooked to the local network.
As frequently stated in this list, I had to create 2 entries in /etc/printcap
for each printer, one with "rp=text" for ASCCII files and the other with
"rp=raw" for Postscript files.
Admittedly, this is a pain in the neck.

Now, I also have some DEC 3500 printers. Their installation diskette contains
some files, and particularly one called "infilter". This C programs contains
the following comment:

 * This filter is capable of distinguishing between ASCII, Postscript and PCL.
 * Postscript and PCL jobs are sent to the printer "as is". ASCII is
 * translated as follows: CR is added to all LF.

Indeed, with the line "if=/usr/nic/infilter" in the corresponding *single*
printcap entry, the DEC 3500 printers DO print equally ASCII and Postscript
files.

Hence my question: will this filter work with my Apple printers?

Thanks!

Jean-Loup
