Problem Summary, I was trying to get a full system backup using the
following command, and receiving a message Invalid Argument, early EOF.

    tar cvf /dev/rmt1h /
Also found a large tar file in DEV directory called rmt01h.

To Summarize from replies.
1. Do not use tar for full volume backups and never backup the /PROC
directory.
use Dump or Vdump instead of TAR.
2. File left in dev directory was actually a result of above tar command,
thinking the system was writing out to tape when it was actually wirting to
my root directory. (not good), I found this file because my root directory
had went to 111% (intresting grew past 100%) and promptly removed it.

Thanks again.
