Dear Gurus,

1) My question: I use Dtmail on a DU 4.0B box.
How can I (or any user) define personal aliases for groups of
   non-local recipients?

2) I received answers from
            Lucio Chiappetti <lucio_at_ifctr.mi.cnr.it>
            Larry Griffith <larry_at_garfield.wsc.mass.edu>
            William Flett <will_at_dcs.rhbnc.ac.uk>
            MC.Vialatte_at_cust.univ-bpclermont.fr
            Jerome M Berkman <jerry_at_uclink.berkeley.edu>
   Thanks to all of you!

a) First a surprise: many answers asked "what is dtmail?"
Well, "Dtmail is the default mail program in the CDE environment"
as stated in the "Network Administration Book" sent with DU
b) most of the respondents don't use dtmail
c) No problem in defining lists or groups of remote recipients with
   Pine, Eudora, Exmh, etc...
d) The point is: with dtmail, the only way to define lists or groups
of remote recipients is to modify the global-system-wide aliases
file. This is precisely what I don't want. I want the users to
take care of their own "address book".

Solution: apparently none with dtmail, "short of modifying the global
aliases file" as stated by L. Griffith.

My decision: I switched to the mailer provided with Netscape.

Cheers,

Jean-Loup
