IW state for ftp users...

     Hello all,
     
     I have a question about the processes that are in the 'IW' state,
     especially all the quest 'ftp' users. (wu-ftp v2.4.2-academ(beta-13))
     
     The users log in to the system under the ftp account, but when they
     logged out, the process is become an 'IW' state and it won't went
     away. I have to use 'kill' command to get rid of it.
     
     Is anyone knows, if there is any daemon or any ultility that makes
     these processes to go away every time the user 'exit' or 'quit'
     from the system under Digital UNIX V4.0*??
