Hi, Managers.
I am looking for some ASE management tool that can help our
integration staff and the system administrators of our costumers.
Prerequisites:
1. DU, ASE
2. I would like to run applications A1 thru An. There may be
dependencies between the applications. One may need be available
for the others to run.
3. I can provide the following information for each application A:
o What needs-to-be-up
o Start command
o Stop command
o Is-it-running command
o Filesets that it accesses
3. The computers may be members of clusters running services S1 thru
Sn
Requirements:
1) I am looking for a tool that can register the applications A1 thru
An with respect to the services S1 to Sn so that:
1.1) The integrator can use standard start and stop scripts. He
will assign disks to disk services according to his own
design, then register register the applications, and then he
does not need to do more (NOT edit ASE scripts)
1.2) In case of a standalone system, the integrator puts the
standard start script in /sbin/rc3.d and registers all the
applications he wants on that system with this.
2) The tool must be able to start and stop all processing
2.1) Of the computer (all services currently present)
2.2) Of a service (if present)
2.3) Of an application (trivial)
3) The tool must be able to provide a map telling what applications
run (by what services) on what systems
4) The tool must be able to tell:
4.1 If application An will ever run on this host (the host is
member of a cluster that runs the service that owns An)
4.2 If application An should be running on this system (it may be
shut down by 3.3)
Ideas and comments are welcome.
Yours, Lars Bro (lbro_at_dscc.dk)
