Q: ioctl error after system reconfiguration

Hi gurus,

I am in the process of upgrading AltaVista Firewall 97 for Digital UNIX
and have hit a brick wall on the last step. I have installed the Firewall
software on a test AlphaStation 400 with DU 4.0B (no patches) and tested
it to satisfaction.

I have restored the system onto our production Firewall box, an
AlphaStation 500/266 and have done doconfig to reconfigure the kernel. Now
when I boot with the re-configured kernel the command:

/usr/sbin/screenmode on

in /sbin/init.d/inet returns

ioctl (SIOCSCREENON): Operation not supported on socket

and later the kernel traps and dumps.

What have I missed?
