My Q:
I am wondering how AdvFS does at converting old File Systems to it's Own
format.
The main reason for this is that the root file systems on mos tof the
machines are getting pretty shallow, and I hav tried to delete all that I
can, and there is still not enough disk space (Entry in the FAQ
acknowledged, I still need a lot more). SO I am hoping that I can
convert all to AdvFS, add some more space to the root file domain, and
then upgrade. Along with converting all of the other user areas too.

The answers:
With Advfs, the rrot file system can only contain one volume. That was a
big caveat.
A 128 MB root partition was also recommended for 4.0 installations.
There are difficulties recovering a root partition if it is AdVfs after a
serious root partition crash.
There is a section in the Admin manual that assists the user in
converting UFS to ADVFS file systems.
Thanks to all who helped
