Dear Alpha OSF Managers,
We have cluster of Digital UNIX V3.2c and V4.0b's. A particular
AlphaStation 600 5/266 (OS V4.0c 564) reports errors to the command line
whenever we launch selected programs from other systems. We have two
problems:
1) Occasionally, for no apparent reason, the xdm (CDE) display managers
temporarily freezes and fails returning the users to the console
screen. The following error is briefly shown:
-- cut --
pvp0: SIGKILL RM pid #
-- cut --
Which we assume is the driver for the ZLXp-L2 graphics card. The system
then returns to the CDE Xlogin screen. (See bottom of email for
additional info). We do not know what caused the error as no error
message appear in the log file. The following problem might be
related...
2) If we remotely login to our server AlphaStation 1000 (OS V3.2c 148),
set the display to the particular AlphaStation 600 and execute the
Networker Admin (nwadmin), the following stream of errors are displayed
on the remote shell:
-- cut --
Unaligned access pid=9942 <nwadmin> va=1400e33ec pc=1200bfe70 ra=1200bef3c
type=stq
Unaligned access pid=9942 <nwadmin> va=1400e33f4 pc=1200bfe70 ra=1200bef3c
type=stq
Unaligned access pid=9942 <nwadmin> va=1400e33fc pc=1200bfe70 ra=1200bef3c
type=stq
etc. etc.
-- cut --
These errors stop when nwadmin is finally displayed.
We have the the latest patches install: duv40bas00006-19971216. Additional
information is provided below:
Firmware revision: 6.4
PALcode: OSF version 1.2
Digital AlphaStation 600 5/266
Mem_size = 266182656, consmem = 275
pci0 at nexus
pvp0 at pci0 slot 7
pvp0: 8MB vram, 1280x1024, 32KP, _ZLXp-L2_at_5
Any help would be warmly appreciated.
Regards,
Rich
