original problem:
If set the "new-wire-method" to 1, there could be data-corruption.
DEC gave the advice to set this parameter to 0. So I did. (September
1997).
The promised to give this problem a high priority.
I installed yesterday D.U. 4.0B and afterwards patch-kit 6
Did DEC solve this problem ??
And if they solved it, do I have to set the "new_wire_method" in
/etc/sysconfigtab or is the "new-wire-method" the default ?

the answer Oisin McGuinness:
>From the readme: line 4876 of duv40bas00006-19971216.README
- Corrects a raw I/O data corruption problem that occurs when using
database applications. The problem is seen when the new-wire-method
is active.
