SUMMARY: csh broken in 4.0D?

It took a while to separate the wheat from the chaff. It turns out that
csh in 4.0D is fine. My problem was introduced by putting a file system
driver for the old Kubota AFFS into the 4.0D kernel. It works but
results in this very bizarre side effect.

Replies from the net helped since all my 4.0D systems had that driver
installed. No one else was able to reproduce the problem.

Sometimes a negative response is just as useful as a positive one!
