Dear Fellow Managers,
Here I am again soliciting your advice.
I have an AlphaServer 4000 running Digital UNIX Version 4.0B and I am
attempting to configure a modem off the COM 1 port on the back using
UUCP and a US Robotics Sportster Modem. Except for enabling Auto-Answer
on the modem, the modem is factory stock. After configuring the modem I
find myself in the position where i can dial out on the modem using
things like the cu command. However, when I try to dial in, the modem
answers, all the correct signals seem to be asserted and I get no login:
prompt.

I managed to try the same setup on an AlphaServer 2100 and was able to
get a login: prompt. The pertinent lines in files I have modified are
as follows.

/etc/inittab:
u0:23:respawn:/usr/lib/uucp/uugetty -r -t 30 ttyd0 console # UUCP

/usr/lib/uucp/Devices:
ACU ttyd0 - Any hayes

Is there anything I am missing? What is different about setting up UUCP
on the AlphaServer 4000 using Digital UNIX 4.0B?
