I found Sheryl A. Campbell's email regarding her problems installing a
new rz29. I thought that the problems I am having might be related.
Then again maybe I don't know what I am doing. My knowledge of UNIX and
my experience in maintaining the system are very limited.
I have an AlphaStation 200, 4/166 running DEC UNIX v4.0B. This system
has two drives already installed internally (RZ29LB and a RZ26) which
are both connected to the same SCSI controller. We recently purchased a
Storage Works box holding a RZ29L-AS. This is connected to a second
SCSI controller installed in the AlphaStation. Like Sheryl's situation,
the new controller and drive are recognized at the console level. I am
not sure what to do next though. Is my next step to run 'MAKEDEV', and
then 'disklabel'? I have some manuals in front of me, but after
performing an upgrade to v4.0B I can't get my MAN pages to run either.
I guess what I am looking for is an explicit step by step guide for
installing and configuring this drive, to include the partition and
mounting process. We don't have a UNIX support contract thanks to my
boss, so I am really alone. Help!
