Again the list comes through. The resounding answer was to use
"sudo".
Joshua Rowe provided the following info ( SNIP ), concerning the failure
on my setuid attempts to work.

The setuid bit does not work on shell scripts
(any file that begins with '#!') for security reasons.

Stan Horwitz indicated that I should be able to use my Kornshell menu by
executing the appropriate sudo command when the menu option is
selected.
