i just upgraded to 4.0D, and am having a problem with syslog. i have
a bunch of clients logging their syslog messages to one host
(mustang) with a line in their syslog.conf such as:
*.debug _at_mustang
and the server logs all of these messages to a syslog file. upon
upgrading to 4.0D, none of the client messages are being written to
the file. i started the syslogd with the debug option on the server
to see what it was doing with the messages, and apparently it is just
discarding them. here is the first page of output from syslogd. the
important line is "No remote forwarding configured, message
discarded." does anyone know what this means? why is it discarding
all the messages from the clients? (it is logging the local
messages). no error is returned to the client.
