I had terrible trouble installing 4.0D with a disk layout of my choice
(custom installation).
Eventually I found out that diskconfig (4.0C, 4.0D, as booted from 4.0D
CDROM) corrupts the disk label of my RZ1CC-BA disk when clicking the
"Default" button!
Before diskconfig:
sectors/unit: 8380080
After clicking the Default button:
sectors/unit: 8899737
Subsequently newfs fails on the last partition (h):
write error: 6434704
wtfs: I/O error
The messages on the console are (among others):
Hard Error Detected
DEC RZ1CC-BA (C) DEC883F
Active CCB at time of error
Command timed out
cam_logger: CAM_ERROR packet
cam_logger: bus 2 target 0 lun 0
I was able to salvage the drive with disklabel -R. Fortunately we
have another machine with the same drive and an uncorrupted label.
Is this a bug or a feature?
