compatible (non DEC) RAM

Dear Managers,

I'm going to upgrade the RAM of my AS 4100 5/466 from 512Mb to 1Gb,
so I'm wondering if buying compatible (non DEC) RAM it might be a good
idea or not .
Of course they cost less, but ....

Did any of you have a bad experience using such RAMs ?

I will really apreciate any tips and suggestion about this topic.
