Hello managers,

i asked:
> Until now, i *think*, i have understood what the UBC is for. And i know
> about the MIN and MAX kernel parameter for UBC and how to set/change/tune
> them. But still i'm missing how to look at the momentary value of memory

> Do you?

and got many useful responses! Thank you all very much!

Most stated to use "vmubc" a x-based graphical tool (unsupported though...)
It can be found on (e.g.)
   http://www.partner.europe.digital.com/www-swdev/pages/Home/TECH/software/TOOLS/OSF/vmubc/vmubc.html
or
http://www.partner.digital.com/www-swdev/pages/Home/TECH/software/TOOLS/OSF/vmubc/vmubc.html

Other hints were "vmstat -P" or

# dbx -k /vmunix /dev/mem
(dbx) p vm_perfsum and then looking for vpf_ubcpages
or
(dbx) print ubc_pages
