Hi, Managers.
This is a very tiresome case. I have three identical rackmount
AS1000A. No matter what I try, I can only boot two of those on the DU
4.0B CD-ROM. For the third, the console sort of halts. The X canvas
comes up, the X mouse cursor comes up, stays there for 1/10 sec, then
disappears and nothing further happens.
Now, I became tired of this and simply took out the system
disk(internal) and mounted it into one of the other machines and
installed the operating system from here. Put it back, booted and
everything worked fine. Why..? I dont know.
I forgot about all that for some time until I had to upgrade to
DU4.0B. The two first machines worked OK but the third (the one I
installed in another) cannot use its display. When xlogin starts, the
display goes black. But now the funny thing comes:
The sizer command actually shows a difference. Anyone who can guess
what this means:
rip.dscc.dk # sizer -gr
1280x1024
rip.dscc.dk
rap.dscc.dk # sizer -gr
1280x1024
rap.dscc.dk #
rup.dscc.dk # sizer -gr
640x480 1280x1024
rup.dscc.dk
The two first work but the third one does not work. HOW ? WHY ?
The console ports are connected to some kind of switch so that there
is only one display/keyboard thet can be switched between the
different hosts.
Yours, lars Bro (lbro_at_dscc.dk)
