Thanks to everyone who replied. From the replies posted, I believe I
could given a little more information in my question.
As far as I can tell there is no SINGLE kernel parameter called maxproc
under Digital Unix. (vers 3.2C - 4.0D). Most of you pointed me to
either maxusers which is set in the configuration file, or to
max-proc-per-user in the proc subsystem. I am familiar with these
settings. I was looking for an ADDITIONAL parameter called maxproc.
According to the RedBrick installation documentation (a data warehousing
app replacing our Oracle stuff), Digital Unix should have a maxusers,
and a maxuprc, and a maxproc parameter. This may be a problem with
their install documentation.
I went ahead and tuned my kernel with the other recommended params (had
no problem finding the others) and seem to be running fine. My best
guess at this point is that the maxproc value is redundant with maxuprc
or is covered with the maxusers setting.
Thanks for the speed of the replies.

I need to check or set the maxproc setting for an app I am installing.
As far as I can tell, this kernel parameter does not exist in Digital
Unix. At least not under that name.
Is anyone familiar with this setting? Does it exist under another name
in Digital Unix?
I will post the summary,
TIA
