Hello:

Today when I added a new user with adduser, I find myself lost. When I
tryed to login as root (su -) the machine didn't gave me permission to
do so. Additionaly nobody is able to login with his own account because
the password doesn't match.

I've done a root vrestore and then everything goes well until I use the
adduser command again. On examining my passwd file, I found some
inconsistencies like equal usernames and a partial entry (the username,
password and uid fields were stripped off; the other fields were kept).
I removed the entries with removeuser, deleted the passwd.dir and
passwd.pag files and than created a new user. In this last step, the
adduser command asked me to create the password database files. I
answered YES. The user was created. I logged in with his account with no
trouble. When I closed the root section and tryed to re-open it the
machine refused it.

        Any sugestions????

        Thank you in advance
