portmapper does not respond

Hi Managers,

On one of our ASE-systems the portmapper does not respond some minutes
after reboot, e.g.

root_at_crux:/# ypwhich
ypwhich: crux is not running port mapper

*but*

root_at_crux:/# ps -ef | grep portmap
root 236 1 0.0 14:43:18 ?? 0:00.03 /usr/sbin/portmap
root 1526 1506 0.0 15:59:12 ttyp2 0:00.01 grep portmap


Machine runs DU 4.0B with jumbo patch #6, ASE 1.4.

Any ideas?
