[Pardon if these questions have come up before... I couldn't find any real
answers to them in the list archives]
1 - Backing up the AdvFS to REMOTE tape drives: I've seen messages going
back years in the archives with only two real solutions :
a. Use vdump & pipe it to rsh + dd to the remote tape drive
on another Unix machine
(Examples in the archives for those who haven't seen it)
b. Use Digital's PolyCenter/DECnsr (Network Save & Restore)
Q1: Has anyone been able to backup to a NON-Unix machine using method
#a above or something similar ? I have a machine with OpenVMS
and a TLZ887 + Multinet
Q2: Does anyone have an SPD or part number for Network Save & Restore ?
I couldn't find it on Digital's web site(s) - except for Ultrix
2 - A related question:
Q: Has anyone (successfully) used rdump to back up to an OpenVMS/Multinet
machine ?? rdump SEEMS to work but I get errors from rrestore & it dies
and I don't have another similar tape drive to test the tape on
(a TK88 aka CompacTape IV)
3 - A semi-related question
Q: I'm looking for a Digital Unix based backup solution for NT (ie.
back up a bunch of NT servers to a Digital Unix server+ tape drive)
Thanks
