It can be done by defining a "fake" printcap entry which invokes some script
to crunch the file and spit it out to the real printcap entry which shoves
it to the other machine. Thanks to Kevin Oberman and V.S. Glukhov for that
answer. I have done it and the file now gets munched the way I want it. It
still doesn't print correctly, but that is beyond the scope of this
question. Thanks.
