Hello managers!
I have a question which isn't exactly related to DEC UNIX but is related
to DEC hardware (as far as I know, there isn't a mailing list for that).
I understand that there's a company named Dataram who produces RAM at a
lower cost than the original vendors which will run on Alpha servers and
other platforms. I visited the company's web site today
(www.dataram.com) and they seemed to be a respectable outfit.
Our main vendor says that they have used Dataram for some time and that
their RAM is just as good as DEC's. Have any of you all had any
experience with these folks? I'm tempted by their prices, but what is
holding me up is the question of hardware maintenance: will DEC offer me
a hardware maintenance contract on the devices that Dataram sells? If
so, is the rate for this maintenance on these devices really high? I
would expect so.
Any input is appreciated!
