Dear Managers,
I have a problem with backup which I already have seen on your Mail
list (but I couldn't get the answer). When I start backup with command
dump it happens next:
TUXos2#> dump -0un -L d1_part -f /dev/nrmt0h /disk1
dump: Dumping from host tuxos2.tkcosj.hpt.hr
dump: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Apr 29 11:53:42 1998 MET DST
dump: Date of last level 0 dump: the start of the epoch
dump: Dumping /dev/rrz1c (/disk1) to /dev/nrmt0h
dump: Mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
dump: Mapping (Pass II) [directories]
dump: Estimate: 427430 tape blocks on 0.96 volume(s)
dump: Dumping (Pass III) [directories]
dump: Volume 1, tape # 0001, begins with blocks from i-node 2
dump: 0.12% done -- finished in 00:56
dump: Dumping (Pass IV) [regular files]
dump: Write error -- wanted to write: 10240, only wrote: -1
slave_work(): write(): I/O error
dump: Write error - /dev/nrmt0h, volume 1, 9 feet -- cannot recover
dump: NEEDS ATTENTION: Do you want to restart this volume?: ("yes" or
"no")
no
dump: Cannot remove shared memory
remove_shared_memory(): shmctl(): Invalid argument
dump: SIGTERM received -- Try rewriting
dump: Unexpected signal -- cannot recover
Backup process was passed a few days ago but now it wasn't. The machine
is AlphaStation 200 (4/233) under DEC OSF/1 3.2A with TLZ07 tape drive,
and I have used 4mm DAT cartridge 120m (DDS-2). I worked this backup on
the other exactly same machine but a problem was same too. I try with:
dump -0un -L d1_part -f /dev/nrmt0l /disk1 , but error was same again.
'mt -f /dev/nrmt0h status' shows:

All three partitions have ufs filesystem.
Could anybody help me and tell me why this dump don't work? I will be
really hapy to solve this problem.
Thanks,
