Is anyone successfully using the CDE calendar manager to keep a few hundred
or more calendars on a single server?
When we put ~20 calendars on a DEC 4000 server, we had no problems. When we
moved another 250 or so calendars onto the same server, the calendar manager
daemon started dying - often hundreds (or was it thousands) of times per
hour. If there are other sites doing this successfully, I will probably
pursue it. If not, we may stick to Solaris for our calendar manager server.
Incidentally, watch out for your semi-private appointments. You are
supposed to be able to enter an appointment and let others see the time and
date, but not the text. We have not been able to get this to work with a
version 4 (CDE) calendar file. A browser is not able to see the time and
date, unless he can also see the text.
