I sent this and then made a discovery (always the moment one hit's send, no?)
I actually DO get a prompt on this remote system, it just takes over
2 MINUTES to happen, so I had always given up before I got the prompt.
This time I had done the ftp request so I could get the exact message for
this email, and left it while I typed. Just after I hit send, the prompt
appeared. (grumble grumble)
I've repeated this a few times to see that it is repeatable. It is.
The target system is not particularly busy.
load averages: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00 10:33:32
31 processes: 1 running, 6 sleeping, 24 idle
Cpu states: 0.0% user, 0.0% nice, 0.7% system, 99.1% idle
Memory: Real: 19M/119M act/tot Virtual: 3M/128M use/tot Free: 75M
What the heck would make it take so long?
Again thanks for any ideas.
