SUMMARY:NSR and TZ887

It turns out that the loader was not defined along with the tape drive on
the SW. Hardware support helped me define it:
   1) define passthrough device and unit for tape: add passthrough
        TAPE100 1 0 0, add unit TAPE100 P600)
   2) define passthrough device and unit for loader: add passthrough
        LDR101 1 0 1, add unit P601 LDR101).

A question though (and hardware support did not know the answer
either): how am I supposed to know where the loader's PTL is. The
HSZ book does not get into any detail. The hardware support person
had the details from a conference he was at.

**** original message ***
I am trying to get NSR 4.4 setup to use a TZ887 connected to a SW800.
I have DU 4.0B with the latest patches and CAM Media Changer 3.1C,
and the jukebox license (tier 1). I made the device for the drive (mc22). I
can access the tape drive so the connection is good. When I try mcutil I
get the message "the device is not answering". I am using the standard
settings in mcicap for the tz8x7 drive. I am missing something? Any
suggestions? I tried software support and they could not come up with a
reason, so I will try the list before contacting DEC again.
