SUMMARY: ruptime/rwho giving incomplete data?

Thanks to
        "Richard Eisenman" <eisenman_at_tricity.wsu.edu>
        <scott.b.skeate_at_lmco.com>

for pointing out the "-a" option, but that wasn't it...the real answer
was from

        "George W. Baltz" <gwb_at_umd5.umd.edu>

Who pointed out out a limitation:

It's a result of the protocol. The rwho messages are UDP packets, which
are
limited to the size of a single packet on the wire. For most Ethernets
(and
equivalents) that means an MRU of about 1500 bytes. That allows between
35
and 42 users with associated info. Anything beyond that is ignored.

You might look at 'rup' (which has it's own idiosyncrasies).

----------
My original question:

Does anyone know why ruptime/rwho doesn't seem to report more than 37
users on a system? I've got over 100 users logged in, but only 37 are
displayed by rwho and ruptime only reports 37 as well...
