Question: How to configure LAT into the Kernel (original Message at
the end)
The answer seems to be:
rerun doconfig and select "Datalink Bridge"
(not yet tested)

Otto,
While looking at rc.config, I've have the following 2 lines.
LAT_SETUP="1"
export LAT_SETUP
I didn't remember how do I get it.

Daniel

hello Dr. Titze,
RE: DU and LAT
I am not sure, but i believe you need to do a kernel build if you used
setld to load the lat software subset (osflat4xx) after the base
installation.
Wait a bit and see what other answers you get from the list, and
then rebuild your kernel if better advice is not offered. This takes
a few minutes, but will be a relatively quick test of hypothesis.
good luck,

Hi,
When you do a "doconfig" (DU 4.0x) you will never see "LAT" as an option,
but if you "vi" to /sys/conf/SERVERNAME , you will see "LAT" and "DLB"
option.
When you use "latsetup" and configure "LAT" (you know, create the terminals
- bsd / sv and so on), do a "latcp -d") to make sure "LAT" is "active". You
will see the name of the LAT service.

Subj: LAT with DU4.0D
Hello,
I just installed my first DU4.0D (as to avoid the complicate upgrade
installation procedures what I learned from this list)
- after the standard install I dicovered the LAT was missing
- did setld LAT
- after some other setlds, did a doconfig
- tried latsetup and got
"LAT and/or DLB have not been configured in the running kernel"
This is really true, sysconfig doesnt show lat.
- now I don't know how to configure these
Release notes say 4.5.4: "You no longer need to built LAT into the Kernel
... you still must built DLB into the kernel"
Nothing else in the release notes about to do this with DLB
Also no helpful information in the Installation Guide:
p. 5-35 is the only place were it is mentioned only
These are the only manuals I have (and an old Systems
Administration DU V3.0 Guide)
What do I have to do? Is there a simple sysconfigdb command, I
don't want to experiment very much without much knowledge...
(Besides my VMS systems I not so familiar with DU.)
In the past I set up LAT on DU 3.2c, 4.0a, 4.0b, 4.0c with no
problems (ok these have been factory installed systems (4.0X).
Why does DU behave everytime different and is the documentation
really so poor?
Regards
Otto
