The question was:
How does one change the LED on an AlphaServer 2100 at run time (that
is, while the operating system is running and not at the SRM console).
The answer is:
You don't. Sort of. There is a reference to the OCP in
/usr/sys/include/arch/alpha/iic.h under DU, but that appears to be for
something other than a 2100. There may be a way, but it isn't
documented anywhere that I've been able to find. The operator is
pretty much limited to using 'set ocp_text [msg]' at the SRM console
prompt.
