Hello,
I must first thank the following people for their replies:
Thomas M. Payerle <payerle_at_physics.umd.edu>
Nathan Grass <NathanG_at_UTS.Itron.com>
In my original poster I asked what or who caused a user called 'LOGIN' to
appear in the history of logins. Nathan commented that it "appears to be
a default non-user account that is used from the local console." This
certainly does appear to be true. I am less worried about it as I am able
to reproduce it by the following steps;
1) from the CDE login screen select 'Option'
2) select 'Command line login' to stop the CDE session
3) login at the local console prompt
4) 'last | more' show the user 'LOGIN' before my login session
5) exit and press <enter> at the login prompt to return to
the CDE login screen.
So there you have it. What's it's function is still a mystery!
Regards,
Rich
