PPP on DU vs PPP 2.3.3 under Linux

Hi,

I was having a look at the pppd(8) man pages on our DU 4.0C machine, as I
wanted to check something out, and was surprised to find that the following
commands (which are available in PPP 2.3.3 for Linux) are not available:

idle nnn if the link is idle for nnn seconds, drop the link
ms-dns give a Win 95 box a DNS server address
ms-wins give a Win 95 box a WINS server address

I also did a strings on /usr/sbin/pppd and none of these strings show up,
but what does show up is lots of version strings: 1.1.2.x from 1995 and
1996. Seriously old stuff ...

Has this improved with 4.0D?

Is it still possible to runs the non-kernel portions of a later pppd (ie
2.3.3) with the kernel portions of the DU stuff?

Regards
