Dear Gurus,
My problem: all of a sudden, a user can't log in and gets the
message:
task_create() failed for pid 4368: maxuprc (=128) exceeded for uid 266.
Thanks to: Giorgio Pastore, Bernt Christandl, Mireille BOF,
Martin Moore, Nathan Grass, Susan Rodriguez,
Stephane E. Fernandez,
I could better see where to fumble in.
They all recommended to check the current value of maxuprc (it was
what I expected) and check for the user's processes with a command
like "ps -U userid"
This made it (the 128 processes owned by the poor user were not
displayed by "ps aux", hence my confusion) and I could understand
what happened: a loop in one of his scripts.
I killed the offending processes (kill -9) and corrected the script.
Thanks!
Jean-Loup
