UFS Block Size

The man page for newfs states the block size for UFS is fixed at 8K.
Does a IO request pick up a minimum of 8K for every read request (read
ahead probably picks up the next block(s)?)

If my disk is labeled with a geometry of:
                512bytes/sector
                57 sectors/track
That would mean I have three 8K blocks to make up one track. Is this
correct?

TIA
