changing CPU limits of running process

Dear NQS & alpha Managers,

I'm using NQS on my Dunix 4.0D on a AS 4100.

A NQS user has submitted a job with a given CPU time limit which is now
going to be exceeded and the job will be killed. The user asked me if I
can set the CPU limit to a greater value so that the jobs ends normally
and all the time spent will not be lost.

I suppose the question is:

How can root signal a running process to set the CPU limit to another
value?

Any help will be very apreciated.
Greetings from italy,
Emanuele
