Hello Managers,
Here are some informational messages when upgrading from 4.0b to 4.0d :
*** Merging new file ./etc/.new..inittab into
existing ./etc/.proto..inittab
Unable to complete this merge.
.new..inittab is copied directly to .proto..inittab and inittab.
Your old file(s) are saved to:
./etc/.proto..inittab.PreMRG
./etc/inittab.PreMRG
The file resulting from the merge attempt is saved to:
./etc/.proto..inittab.FailMRG
Merge your customization into following file(s) manually:
./etc/.proto..inittab
./etc/inittab
Files that do not merge successfully are recorded in:
./var/adm/smlogs/upd_mergefail_files
The problem is that after all that the remaining initab is not the old one
and the old one has not been saved.
it seems to me that there is some problem in the update process.
Hopefully, I've succeeded to restore the right initteb through NSR.
One other thing could be to have an explanation on "Unable to complete this
merge."
Thanks,
Daniel
