ls (argument list too long)

Hi all,
sometimes when we execute ls command for long directory structure (for
ex. more than 2000 files in the directory) I got the following mesage:
argument list is too long.
My question is how can we get rid of this ? I mean is there a way to
list such a long directory structure with or without using ls command.
