KDE 1.0 under Digital Unix 4.0?

The K Desktop Environment 1.0 preview release (http://www.kde.org/) is
supposed to usable under OSF. I'm sort of getting there with a combination
of DEC cxx and GNU g++, but it's looking awfully messy (lots mucking about
with config and Makefiles, and unresolved functions in the shared libs,
etc.) has anyone managed to get it to build cleanly, and if so, what sort
of tweaking did you have to do?

Rant on: I notice that latest Netscape Communicator 4.5 PR1 DOESN'T have a
DEC Unix port yet! Why do I get the feeling that DEC Unix users are always
the poor second cousins! I should probably just install Alpha/Linux, it
even has OpenSound audio drivers now. While Alpha may be great for
servers, it really does drag in the desktop arena :-(
