DVD-ROM on DU 4.0X

Is there any problem using a DVD rom under DU 4.0D or E? I need to replace a CD
drive, and it seems silly to buy a CD when we all know that DVD is comming real
soon. Especially when you consider the size of meteorlogical data sets. So Can I
get a DVD player and use it for CDs now and DVDs later? If so, are there any
restrictions on what one (other than it has to be SCSI)?

I know this was brought up before, but I never really saw an answer go by.

Thanks.
