CDE/Exceed Problem

Roger's summary (included below) helped me get a little closer to running
CDE on my pc using Exceed 5.1.0.1 but I must not have something quite right
because all it does is open an Exceed window but never starts cde - no error
messages given. I can run VUE from my HP boxes without problems.

Current settings are:
Under Xconfig, screen definition - single window mode
Under Xconfig, communications - mode is XDMCP query and entries under XDMCP
startup modes for display class and key have been removed. (If left in an
error message is rec'd "Fatal error: XDM session denied")

Can anyone advise what I may be missing? Many thanks,
Shirley

        Subject: Summary of CDE/Exceed problem

Thanks to Chris Wigglesworth, John Warren, Dion Rivera, and Kevin
Partin for
replying. Chris gave me the fix which was to remove entries in the
Exceed
config under Xconfig -->Communications ---> XDMCP Startup modes for
Display
Class and Key. My original posting was:

I have a 4.0D 4100 and am trying to get the CDE to display back to
my Exceed
PC terminal. I have set Exceed up for XDMCP-query and single window
mode
and named the 4100 as a connect-to host. The error message I get
from
Exceed says "Fatal Error XDM session declined" Using the exact same
terminal but naming a Solaris box as the connect-to host works fine.
I went
through the CDE admin guide with DU 4.0 and checked everything I can
think
of, Xaccess file, Xauthority etc etc and still can not get anywhere.
The
Xerror file shows nothing. The problem must be on the DU side
because the
stock Solaris CDE setup runs fine on this terminal. Any help would
be
        greatly appreciated.

I am not sure why this fixed the problem and would appreciate any
insight as
to why DU 4.0 CDE behaves different than Solaris CDE.

        Thanks
