I've contacted Compaq in order to check these three suggestions:

--------------------------- 1 ---------------------------------
Do you have a support call open with Compaq on this issue? If
I remember correctly, this problem has been seen at other sites
and there may be a patch available.
-----
When I had this problem, Compaq supplied me with a NFS patch for the
servers which appears to have solved the problem. They said that
they expected the patch to make it into PatchSet3, but it may not.

I'd ask your Compaq contact for the NFS module patches released for PS2
or to confirm that they were incorporated into PS3.
---------------------------- 2 --------------------------------
Are the patchset you installed and the one available at
ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/dunix/v4.0d/DUV40DAS00003-19981208.tar
of the equal date? (The name is equal)
---------------------------- 3 --------------------------------
Had you tried increasing vm-heappercent in /etc/sysconfigtab?

I noticed that DUv4.0E has OSFNFS435 whereas DUv4.0D(&patches) has got
OSFNFS425. I will keep you informed.
