Hi folks,
I have seen reports that suggest that the Bourne shell under Digital UNIX
has problems with $OPTIND when using getopt.
When I last looked, there seemed to be a problem if there are no command
line parameters to a shell, $OPTIND seems undefined.
However, reports I have seen suggest that $OPTIND may be undefined in all
cases.
Can anyone comment?
The reason I ask is that I am trying to track down a problem with smbtar
from Samba, as the maintainer of that software. And, while I have access
to Digital UNIX systems, my deadlines for the 8 chapters on the Samba book
I am helping to write are very close. A lame excuse, I know, for asking
other people to do my legwork, but it is the best I can do at the moment.
Regards
